I just finished an archery elk hunt in this unit. There are zero elk on public land. We know because we looked for a couple of days for future reference. We did do a guided elk hunt on the only outfitter in the unit, Kearl Ranch Outfitters. Unfortunately, the state does not have a minimum competency requirement for who guides you because it’s private property and we could never even get within bow range of any elk. The bull that I was hunting I was called off by the guide for unknown reasons. my experience was not very good with this outfitter, and I say that as somebody who has been on multiple guided hunts, and as someone who would recommend all the other outfitters I’ve ever hunted with. I highly recommend you save your money and find another unit because both the guided and the DIY options are lacking value in this unit.
