I just got off the phone w/ Colorado P&W--2,000 archery elk tags were allocated/sold for this year (2022) for 80 & 81. I could complain that that's too many, but I drew one of them, so I'll just have to hope the hunting pressure is less than in years past.
Hey goHUNT, something seems to be amiss in the "snapshot" section for this unit (65). This section reads, in part, "For nonresidents, this area is part of Region J and tags drawn for this area are also valid in: 59, 61, 62, 63, 64, 73."
When I checked the mule deer unit map, I couldn't find any mule deer units numbering 62, 63, or 73. When I clicked on Region J, it highlighted units 59, 61, 64, and 65. What gives???
This article hints at changes to " 'the regulations to make them more understandable and effective'" and then drones on about unit boundaries for the rest it. Is this the "major shakeup" you were referring to? I think us non-residents are much more interested in the elephant in the room--Montana's convoluted application/preferences points/bonus points. Not the (hair) splitting of some trophy unit.
Dear goHunt: The harvest success rates on your site for the 4th rifle season in this unit (171) are significantly better than other reputable sites I've visited. Any thoughts as to why?
