Want to hunt muskox for a good cause? Then enter Safari Club International Alaska Chapter’s (SCI-Alaska) Nunivak Island Muskox Permit raffle. SCI-Alaska members unanimously decided to donate 100% of the proceeds to the Alaska Department of Fish & Game’s Wildlife Conservation Program.
Historically, the Alaska agency has funded the program with income generated from nonresident hunting and fishing, but due to coronavirus, those funds have been extremely limited. Season closures and travel restrictions show that there isn’t a current end in sight for the pandemic and the impacts on conservation programs like this one.
SCI-Alaska executive director Louis Cusack said that members have been helping in a variety of ways since COVID-19, including donating to foodbanks across the state and donating the raffle proceeds, which will hopefully give the agency about $30,000.
SCI-Alaska is selling 800 raffle tickets. For more information on how to purchase tickets, click here.
