@Brady thanks for the reply. Thanks for sharing your adventures and best of luck this year in the draws/hunts as well. You're right, your filmmaker is incredibly talented.

@Stefan - Glad you enjoyed the film. I'm so glad people liked the film, even with the struggle I went through. And thanks in regards to the 2016 season. It was a dream year in so many levels. Got to take my good friend out on his first mule deer bowhunt where he got a buck, the incredible snowstorm hunt in WY, that dream CO buck and then an amazing time taking my family deer hunting in MT. One season I will always look back on.

About the music in our films. They are actually made by our filmmaker and unfortunately are not available for use. He is very talented. Best of luck to you in the draws this year. Hard to believe we are already into March.

Brady/Lorenzo, I just finished watching this for the first time. Awesome on so many levels. Great job showing so many cool aspects to highcountry hunting and thanks for putting together a great edit. Brady - congrats on a killer 2016 hunting season, it's fun to follow you through social media each hunting season. Would you mind sharing the soundtrack for this film? Specifically the song at 11:48.

Thanks for the info Brady! If you can elaborate, is there anything special you look for when virtual scouting for units that are great for spot and stalk hunting? I like the terrain in this unit. It looks like you and Lorenzo watch them for a couple days, figure out their routine, then make a stalk. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

@Jared I was using a Slik 624 Pro CF. I bought that tripod a few years ago. Love this tripod for backpacking. I am also running a Vanguard Ph-111v 2 way pan head. The head is great for the price and weight. I run an 85 mm spotting scope on this setup and it handles everything I've thrown at it. I also run 15x56 binos on this setup. You could definitely run a video camera on the setup. Although for filming you might want something a bit more sturdy like a Manfrotto or an Outdoorsmans.

Lorenzo was using an Outdoorsmans tripod with an Outdoorsmans pan head. His setup is one of the smoothest tripods for glassing. Probably the ultimate in glassing. Hope that helps.

What's the details on your tripods you were using for glassing? Are they compatible to a video camera? How do you like them?

bummer on the outcome but thats kinda what made the video for me. that and the use of silence. so many videos today focus on the filled tag, and over produce and dramatize the process. i thoroughly enjoyed this. in fact it might in my top 5 because of how stripped down it feels yet well produced. well done

Gohunt knocks it out the park with the hunting videos! It's so great that you offer them to us to enjoy as well. Keep up the hard work Brady. Redemption will come around!

@Nikolas - Thanks for the kind words. Such a heartbreaking loss. I agree, no rain and we would have found this buck. Plus the black bear in the area didn't help. Lorenzo had the bear at less than 10 yards at one point when he was eating a snack while we were looking for the buck. Just didn't have the camera man near him.

@Matt - Thanks, bud! I know the feeling will never go away. I somehow hope that a elk hunter finds or found him dead. Be great to put a closure to all of this.

@Riley - glad you enjoyed the video. It stings when I watch it... but at the same time it gets me excited to see what this season has in store. Each time I watch I see things I could have done different. Maybe not on the buck side since a lot of that was out of my control. But I have seen things on the stalk that I would like to have changed.

@Scott - Thank you! It is unfortunate that everyone will be here at some point.

@Barry. Thanks! Tough time... but I agree... something pulled that buck out of thin air.

By far the best video I have seen in a long time. Most people do not realize the amount of physical effort and patience it takes to be good at this sport. I actually learned a few things. Now, lets get in shape and hope I get lucky.
Too bad about the deer.

Great to see an amazing reality hunt on video that gives a "true" perspective on how tuff bow hunting really is. I will share this video with friends that don't hunt, so hopefully they can somewhat comprehend the highs (literally), the lows, and the overall mental and physical challenge of what "real" hunting is all about. I'll bet everyone that begins to watch this video is struggling not to fast forward to the kill shot and the dead deer. Thanks for sharing the video, and having the balls to do so!

Really enjoyed it gentlemen...Brady, I can't imagine the turmoil you were in and probably are still in to some extent. The video is a blessing and a curse I imagine.

That was great. Heartbreaking to lose a wounded animal. Just bad luck. No rain and you are packing him out. Thank you for sharing. Nik

Fantastic Video. I'd say most of us have been there, unable to find a buck we've shot. Few things describe that level of frustration, particularly when you've put so much into it. You did the right thing, holding and waiting. Unfortunately, that's just how it goes sometimes. All that said, great footage, great video, excellent stalk!

This is an amazing video! makes me get the itch for this season get 10x worse! Captures everything about the hunt that I love! plus I got some good ideas for my hunts this year on a few items I caught in the footage.

@Oswald, thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. Watching it still eats me up inside. Tough knowing that I wasn't able to recover him.

@Collin, Thank you! I know it is not something that a lot of people openly talk about... especially making a video about it. It was tough going into this season having never lost an animal with a bow or rifle, then to have this happen on the largest buck I have ever laid my eyes on. I'd still be broken up whether it was a small buck or a giant like this. Something I never want to experience again. But like you said, it is real, and I know a lot of hunters have had this happen to them.

C B. - posted 3 years ago on 05-21-2016 06:49:15 am

Great story. Captured the vibe of backpack hunting and bow hunting highs and lows very well. In a way I think you are pretty brave to put it out considering you didn't find the deer; opening yourself up to ridicule. But that is what makes it so good-totally real hunt. Thanks for sharing.

@Mark, thank you!

@Eric, thanks! Glad you enjoyed the film. Hurts to watch for myself, but I know it happens to everyone eventually.

@Jeff, thanks for the kind words and support Jeff. That deer kicked so hard when the arrow hit him too. You are right... it was a giant deer! Big deer or not... it still to this day is hard to swallow. But I still feel I did all I could to try to recover him. I still think that without the rain and lightening it would have been a different outcome. We also saw a bear in the same area the deer was... so I sort of think a bear could have spooked the buck in the night.

Loved listening to the podcast a while back. I didn't appreciate the size until I saw the video. You made an awesome stalk and shot. Sad that you didn't recover that beast.

Great job. So refreshing to watch video's that don't focus on the kill shot & actually show what hunting is about and why we do. Sucks you couldn't recover it but unfortunately that's how it goes sometimes.
