Unit CU1 is the only elk unit that is completely public land and made up of the Custer State Park. Good numbers of elk are found in this heavily timbered unit and anyone lucky enough to hold a tag will be in for a great hunt. Being part of the Custer State Park, this unit has a lot of great access and hunters will find little trouble in locating huntable ground.
Good bulls are taken from this unit every year and those willing to hunt hard, should be able to have a successful hunt. Some areas are more rugged and remote than others. Cover ground and utilize the glass.
