There is very little state land and walk-in access in this unit, without prior arrangements to access a piece of private land there is very little opportunity to hunt in this entire unit

Located in the north central part of the state along the Missouri River. The amount of huntable ground is relatively low, but there are a couple of pieces of state land and walk-in located in the unit. Most of the public access is located in the Southeastern part of the unit, but you will find tiny pieces scattered throughout. If you are looking to hunt this unit, be sure to have a solid plan in place to hunt one of these areas, or have some access to private ground.
With very limited public access there are few hunters headed to this Unit without a plan around hunting some private property, this being said there is very little chatter on the internet about this particular GMU.
Overall this unit is relatively flat with some roll to it, but there are no major terrain features. The Majority of this unit is used for farming and has small areas of wetlands, and creek bottoms that are scattered across the unit in all directions. The Missouri River is the boundary on the western portion of this unit.
The different creek beds have scattered timber including Cottonwood, American Elm, Green Ash, and Bur Oak lining the edges of much of the water system. As you move through the riparian zone you will find a healthy mix of marsh vegetation to include cattails, different prairie grass and wildflowers. The agriculture is a mix of soybean, corn, wheat, sunflowers, alfalfa primarily with some farmers growing different types of vegetables.
There are two major highways that pass through this unit, highway 212 and highway 83. Highway 212 runs through this unit east to west and highway 83 runs north and south. Highway 212 will allow you to access many different roads that will in return allow you to access any specific portion of the unit that you are trying to get to.
There are not many established campgrounds in this unit, and as a general rule there are no amenities. The most central location in this unit where you can find lodging, groceries and any other necessities you might need would be in Gettysburg, SD. Gettysburg, SD is very limited and a plan should be in place if you are planning on being in this area for an extended visit.
