This unit has a unique profile, with the southern half being a large 35-mile by 32-mile square containing the Little Missouri National Grassland and Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and the northern portion being an 18-mile by 55-mile rectangle.
This unit offers nearly half a million acres of public hunting property with the primary pronghorn range covering the entire unit.
Quick Tips
- The size of this unit makes having a gameplan around where you're going to hunt essential prior to the season-opening
- If you're hunting private property on the fields in the northern part of Unit 1-D, get landowner permission as early in the year as possible
- If you find a watering hole, the pronghorn will be close by
- Between the National Grassland and State Trust Lands, there's plenty of public hunting property to accommodate lots of hunters
- Be prepared with water, food, and fuel = once you're away from civilization there aren't many places to pick up supplies
