Mule deer and whitetails are hunted in this area which includes most of Boise and many other communities and is made up of flat prairie and farm land north of the Snake River.

This unit is very different from a typical Western hunting area and looks a lot like parts of the Midwest, but with less high quality deer habitat. Archery and short-range tags are sold over-the-counter. There are controlled short-range deer tags for Deer Flats Refuge.
