Planning a hunt? Wondering where the record bucks or bulls were killed? Well, then, check out the Pope & Young Club’s (P&Y) new Big Game Records Search database. The new database allows anyone interested in searching for big game records an easier way to do so. There are two levels: a free, basic search that provides access to listings organized by species and hunter’s name and the subscription search, which “offers specific details about the animal’s score, state, and county harvest location,” according to P&Y.

“I am very excited about the new Pope and Young Club Big Game Records Search,” said P&Y Records Chair Ed Fanchin. “Users will be able to search the entire Records Program database of over 115,000 record book entries and millions of data points. It will be a valuable research and scouting tool available at your fingertips. The possibilities are endless.”

To access the database, go to P&Y’s website. Click on the “Online Trophy Database” link on the top left side of the page. Select whether you’d like the basic search or sign up for the subscription search, which, according to P&Y, provides information to “over 3 million data points of detailed information pertaining to North American big game animals harvested with a bow and arrow.” The introductory fee for the paid search is $35 per year and proceeds go to P&Y’s Conservation, Education and Outreach Fund.

“The Pope and Young Club has just created our new online Big Game Records Search,” said P&Y President Jim Willems. “This allows anyone to view the Pope and Young records entries. If you choose the subscription, you can search the largest bowhunting big game database in North America. This is the most powerful scouting and research tool available to hunters and wildlife professionals ever created.”

Call me crazy but I think this database should be free to access the whole thing if you are a P&Y member? Call it a perk of your membership.

I agree with you Gary that is a reach! it will be nice to help compare trophy potential of areas but it is far from the most powerful scouting and research tool. I mean goHunt already provides more info on areas than what is suppose to be listed by this P&Y database being created.
