goHUNT gives back 2% for Conservation
We are happy to announce that we recently joined 2% for Conservation. We feel conservation has to come before hunting. Not just the word conservation, or the talk of it, but real meaningful actions given toward the name of conservation. At goHUNT this is our core belief and we are proud to take another action to further protect our western wildlife.
2% for Conservation is a non-profit organization that believes more businesses and more people need to get involved in conservation to ensure the future existence of fish and wildlife. Their goal is to preserve our hunting and angling heritage and to promote the proper science based conservation of fish, wildlife and their habitat. 2% for Conservation puts businesses through an audit process to certify that they give back at least 1% of their gross annual sales and at least 1% (~2,080 work hours per year = 21 hours) of volunteer time to conservation causes.
The 2% for Conservation loop
From 2% for Conservation: This non-profit was started out of necessity. Many things have changed since the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation was created over 80 years ago. Consumers are better educated about conservation issues and businesses understand the value of corporate responsibility. Hunters and anglers understand they can no longer take their favorite pastimes for granted and are increasingly dedicated to doing their part in ensuring the long-term viability of the natural environment they value so highly.
Throughout 2% for Conservation, connections are made and strengthened between businesses, conservation organizations, and consumers. This model provides a continuous funding stream for conservation efforts and a valuable opportunity to educate the public about the important role that sportsmen and women play in conserving fish and wildlife for years to come.
