Breaking down Nevada's Silver State Tag Offering For 2017
Besides for the normal state draw that could potentially leave you waiting a decade or more to pull a great tag, Nevada offers several additional opportunities to draw premium hunting tags. They are Partnership in Wildlife tags (PIW), Silver State Tags and Dream Tags. Money raised from these tag raffles goes to help preserve, protect and restore wildlife and their habitat in the state of Nevada.
The Silver State Tag allows hunters the opportunity to hunt one of four big game species (mule deer, elk, Nelson (desert) bighorn sheep and antelope) anywhere in the state. The winner also walks away with thousands of dollars worth of hunting gear and services? Talk about a win-win situation!
“These hunts alone are an amazing opportunity all by themselves,” said Chris Vasey, Conservation Education Division Chief. “But when you add all of the prizes donated by Nevada’s sportsmen’s groups, it becomes something you simply cannot pass up. Plus the money raised goes right back into helping Nevada’s wildlife.”
Even if you've already completed your regular 2017 Nevada hunting applications, you can still apply for the Silver State Tag raffles by logging back into HuntNevada.com.

Where does the money go?
Silver State Tag application fees will be deposited into the Wildlife Heritage Trust Account. Funds from this account must be used for the protection, propagation, restoration, transplantation, introduction and management of Nevada’s Wildlife. Funds are allocated and administered by NDOW and the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) protects, restores and manages fish and wildlife, and promotes fishing, hunting, and boating safety. NDOW’s wildlife and from the Nevada Department of Wildlife habitat conservation efforts are primarily funded by sportsmen’s license and conservation fees and a federal surcharge on hunting and fishing gear. Support wildlife and habitat conservation in Nevada by purchasing a hunting, fishing, or combination license.
