Youth Hunting Information Now Live On INSIDER!

Youth hunting information now live on INSIDER

We are excited to announce that youth hunting opportunities are now live on INSIDER! There's nothing better than taking a youth out big game hunting, and now you can find all the hunt options for a youth hunter and start to build our their application strategy to get them out in the field.

As always, showcasing more hunting opportunities throughout the West is what we are all about! You'll instantly see all the new youth hunting research tools on Filtering 2.0, Unit Profiles and our standalone Draw Odds page.

We now showcase youth opportunities on INSIDER for the following states:

  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • Oregon
  • Utah

Note: Idaho and California youth information will be added soon. We are waiting for the final regulations to be approved so we can add the seasons with 2019 dates.

Check out the video announcing this new enhancement below:

How to access youth information on Filtering 2.0

Screenshot showcasing youth hunting information on INSIDER

You'll be able to access youth information on Filtering 2.0 just like you would when finding other adult hunting opportunities. The steps are simple. Just select a state, then species and from there, select youth specific draw odds under "Residency." And if you want to see all the youth-specific seasons, you can filter those by selecting a youth season under "Select Season(s)." From there, you can always use any of the filters to narrow down your options even further.

Youth hunting season dates and draw odds

In a state like New Mexico, if there is a youth-specific season, it will show up on the results section under the unit like in the screenshot above. An example path in New Mexico to showcase youth rifle opportunities: New Mexico > Elk > Draw Odds > Resident, Youth > Select Season(s) > Rifle (Youth Only).

Now on the results section, you'll see six units with youth only draw odds, the number of youth applications, and youth harvest success.

See youth hunts on Filtering 2.0

Also, if there is a youth season available, you'll be able to see that data on an individual Unit Profile.

Hey Phil. So far... all things point to a yes that we should have youth draw odds out before the application deadline.

Great Content, thanks for putting this in one place. My question is, what states can a kid start building points without first completeing hunter safety. Or a graph that shows requirements and age that per state to be able to buy a point.

my question on the new youth tags
Colorado youth hunt for a resident youth shows only one unit with zero points for archery. toss in 1st rifle which can and usually is in the tail end of the rut and it pops up to 4 or 5 units.
not sure how better odds for youth rifle then youth archery.

Son really want to get his first archery hunt in. I have 2 points he has 0

Hey Wes. Draw odds are showing for New Mexico youth right now for all species. There are only a handful of seasons/units that actually have youth odds in New Mexico. So that could be why you're not seeing them.

If you follow this path, you will get New Mexico youth odds on Filtering 2.0 for elk without seeing all of the adult hunts: Select a state: New Mexico > Species: Elk > Under Draw Odds select your residency: Resident, Youth or Nonresident, Youth > Under Select Season(s) > Check Muzzleloader (Youth Only), and Rifle (Youth Only).

This would be the direct link for New Mexico nonresident youth hunts on Filtering 2.0: https://www.gohunt.com/insider/units?residency=nonresident_youth&seasons=muzzleloader-%28youth-only%29%252Crifle-%28youth-only%29&species=elk&state=new-mexico

And here is the direct link for New Mexico youth elk draw odds: https://www.gohunt.com/insider/draw-odds?residency=nonresident_youth&species=elk&state=new-mexico

You can see all the New Mexico youth draw odds only, by using our standalone draw odds page that is linked in the article. Or by hovering over the "INSIDER" dropdown menu in the upper right portion of the screen, then click on the words "Draw Odds" which is the first menu. Using any of the states listed on the left would take you to Filtering 2.0, which still will show you draw odds. But sometimes it nice to just look at draw odds in the standalone page. Then select New Mexico, and then you can select Nonresident Youth. From there, just select a species and you will see youth only odds.

Let us know if you have any other questions. We are happy to help.

New Mexico does not show draw odds for non resident youth. Is that something you expect to be updated before draw deadline?
