2020 Arizona leftover elk hunting permit list

2020 leftover Arizona elk permit list

If you didn't draw an Arizona elk tag... there are a few options for you. But... the majority of these hunts will be tough.

For 2020, there are 824 leftover elk permit tags

Note: the majority of these permits are for the minimal occurrence zone/low density (general) hunt.

The list of available licenses can be found here and also in the tables below. These hunts are available for both residents and nonresidents on a first-come-first-served basis. Keep in mind that a lot of these elk permits are limited opportunity, antlerless, a small handful are archery only bull elk and general elk, with that said, elk hunting will be tough.

Minimum Occurrence Zone/Low Density (General elk)

Hunt No. Unit Number available
3799 12A, 12B, 13A, 13B 677

According to Arizona Game and Fish, Hunt No. 3799 – Units 12A, 12B, 13A, and 13B have an extremely low-density elk population, about 40-50 elk combined for all four units. These units are specifically managed for wildlife values other than elk, and an established elk population is not desirable. The intent of this hunt is to eliminate this elk population. The Department cautions you that due to extremely low elk densities, hunt success will be very low, likely less than 5%.

Special fees required for Hunt No. 3799:

Resident elk tag fee: $48.00
Nonresident elk tag fee: $50.00

For those who qualify there are military hunts available at Camp Navajo. For more information contact: Camp Navajo at 928-773-3225 or visit this link.

@Rodney - We currently don't cover the minimum occurrence elk hunts on INSIDER because there are barely any elk in these units, and the chance at a bull are slim to none. I can definitely pass it on to the team.

@Rich - You will get a refund in the mail for everything minus your hunting license fee as that is a pre-requisite to apply for any AZ tag.
