New Mexico has 2,500 leftover hunting licenses that are still available for purchase. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish orginally opened up the sale for the remaining 2014 hunting licenses on June 25th. At that time there were over 4,000 licenses available for residents and non-residents. The majority of the licenses are for muzzleloader or archery hunts. A few of the youth licenses are rifle only hunts.

Number of licenses still available:

Deer: more than 1,000
Javelina: 500
Youth encouragement elk: more than 1,000

All licenses will be sold online only on a first-come, first-serve basis for both residents and non-residents.

Youth license information

The youth encouragement elk license is only available to New Mexico residents who are under the age of 18 (by opening day) who applied but did not draw a deer, elk, antelope, ibex, oryx or bighorn sheep license for the 2014 season. Youth licenses will become available to all elidgible youths regardless of residency and regardless if they applied for the draw or not on July 23 at 10am.
