How to import waypoints into GOHUNT Maps

If you've ever used a GPS or mobile mapping app, then you need to know how to move your content around.

It takes just a few clicks and less than a minute to transfer that content into GOHUNT Maps and your data will be seamlessly synced over to our mobile app— it's just as easy whether you have waypoints, tracks, lines, areas, or any other combination of them.

Literally... this process takes less than a minute!

How to import waypoints, tracks, lines, and areas

We'll start with importing and talk about exporting next.

If you're more of a visual person, you can check out the video above for a walkthrough of this simple process.

No matter where your files are coming from, the process is the exact same.

Start by making sure you are logged into your Insider or Explorer account. Then click on Maps.

On the left portion of the screen will be a "data manager" button.

Click that Data Manager button highlighted in the above screenshot and a toolbar will appear for Importing Files.

You can either drag and drop your .KML or .GPX file to that box or just select your file from your computer.

You will then see your “Selected File” and the file size.

Now click on the orange “Upload” button.

Once the upload has been completed, you'll need to scroll to the bottom of your feature list and click "Confirm."

You'll now see your completed import in your "Hunts" section as a folder.

Now you'll have access to all your imported waypoints. You can access it in your Content area, or from the Hunt folder automatically made of your import. You'll also be able to instantly access this new import on your GOHUNT Maps mobile app as well!

Organizing that data

After you've imported all your waypoints, now would be a great time to start to organize that data. For a complete walkthrough on how I personally organize my waypoints, click the button below:

How to export your data from other sources

Exporting from other mapping apps

If you are using a different mapping application: Log into that service, go to your content, and select everything by clicking the select all button, which will grab all your waypoints, tracks, lines, polygons, etc.

Then you will need to click on an Export button. You can save your hunt information either as a .KML or .GPX. Either format works.

That file will then be saved to your desktop or wherever you saved it to. Then you again just need to open GOHUNT Maps and import in that file.

Exporting data from Google Earth

Once you have Google Earth open, on the left toolbar you will see “Places.”

In that area, you probably have a folder with your waypoints, tracks, lines, etc.

To export your data, you will want to right-click on the folder, then click “Save Place As.”

Now you can name your export and the destination you want to save it to. For convenience, it is typically best to save it to your desktop for ease of finding it.

Note: be sure to change the extension of the export to .KML.

Next click “Save” and your files will be saved to your desktop.

Exporting from GOHUNT Maps

There are times when you might want to export your content. The process for this is very simple. Just use the bulk edit tool (the arrow at the top of the web version of GOHUNT Maps) and then select the waypoints you want to export from a certain hunt.

Next just select "Export" and then you can select whether to export as a .GPX or .KML file.
