De Havilland Jacket

The De Havilland Jacket was designed specifically for the backcountry hunter. I wore this piece on a spring bear hunt in Montana last year and I really appreciate how little this softshell weighed. It was the perfect layer while going on early morning hikes to our glassing spots and then sitting in the wind glassing. This breathable softshell features a tightly weaved DWR face and lightly brushed fleece backer. The textile offers the perfect balance of weather protection and breathability. The 4-way stretch material dropped back hem, and articulated elbows make this an incredibly comfortable jacket whether you are hiking with a pack or sitting and glassing. Perfectly placed hand and chest pockets offer access even while wearing a backpack with a waist belt. All of these great features make this jacket a no-brainer for the backcountry or even around town. Weight: 1 lb 7 oz (size large).

De Havilland Pant

Stone Glacier's De Havilland Pants are technically advanced and specifically designed for the backcountry hunter. First and foremost they are built from a blended fabric that is highly breathable and offers 4-way stretch. Additionally, the face fabric is DWR treated to give it water and wind resistance.

Thanks to Stone Glacier's Contour Waist System you have up to 3" of adjustability in the waist to ensure you have the perfect fit whether you've lost a few pounds over several days in the field or you are layering up for cold weather. By minimizing the materials needed for belt loops, removing snaps and buttons, and incorporating a micro-adjust zipper fly, the Contour Waist prevents bunching of excess fabric on the hips and eliminates sore spots completely while carrying a heavy pack. Grumman Goose down Jacket

In terms of what a backcountry hunter is looking for in an insulation piece, the Grumman Goose Down Jacket is unmatched. I personally used this jacket on several hunts in 2019 and this piece is phenomenal! It's hard to put it any better in words. In terms of specs, for me, it has everything you would ever need.

The combination of the light and buttery soft Pertex® Quantum shell, HyperDRY 5.3 oz of 850+ DWR treated down, and a technical fit and design make this the most advanced down jacket in the hunting industry. The articulated hood, streamlined internal cuff, and elastic waist hem further enhances the comfort and warmth. Grumman Goose down Pants

A pair of insulated down pants is likely the one piece of gear that you need but probably don't have. Weighing in at 16 oz and filled with 4.2 oz of 850+ fill goose down, the warmth to weight ratio is outstanding. Helio Hoody

It also has Polygiene® Odor Control Technology that prevents odor causing bacteria. I have been wearing the Helio Hoody out on trips in Nevada recently looking for sheep, and this hoody fits me perfectly and is super comfortable to wear on these late-season temperatures while hiking.

Helio Bottom

The Helio bottom is a lightweight micro fleece backed long john designed for cold weather hunting. Controlling your temperature is easy with side zips, which when paired with the De Havilland Pant, allows you to vent all the way to the skin. The bootcut design offers the perfect length so that they ensure coverage but do not extend down into your boots where they can bunch and bind. M5 Rain Jacket

The M5 Rain Jacket is new for 2020. Sporting Stone Glacier's own waterproof textile technology, HydraShield, the M5 has a mechanical stretch 3-layer laminate that has an amazing waterproof rating of 31,000 mm. 20,000+ mm means a garment is rainproof and waterproof under very high pressure and it will easily protect you in heavy rain, wet snow.

The M5 also has a MVTR breathability rating of 27,600g, anything above 15,000g is perfect for the western hunter that could be hunting or hiking with a load while wearing it. The bottom line, the waterproof and breathability of the M5 rain gear will keep you dry and protected in the harshest terrain under the worst conditions. Other features include the Contour waist system for easy layering, YKK Vislon and Aquaguard zippers, and Stone Glacier's unique Stratum layered zipper system allowing you to retain or vent body heat all the way down to your skin without removing any clothing.
