Matt is a lifelong resident of the state of Kansas. He grew up in central Kansas and has been an avid upland bird and waterfowl hunter from a young age. Matt started bowhunting in 1998 after being exposed to the sport by several close friends. Since that first season he has exclusively archery hunted big game, with success on Whitetail Deer, Mule Deer, Coues Deer, Antelope, Elk and Wild Turkey.
Matt works as a District Conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service, residing in northwest Kansas with his wife Jerri and daughter Ellie. Jerri also archery hunts when time allows and has successfully taken both turkey and whitetail deer. Needless to say, hunting is a year round obsession in their household.
Matt serves as the Northwest Representative for the Kansas Bowhunter’s Association. Matt is also on the Membership Committee for the Pope and Young Club. He prides himself on being an ethical hunter and being an active member in these conservation organizations and feels that they are an important part of maintaining the hunting heritage.
Matt’s successes in the field have provided opportunity to contribute to several magazines as a freelance outdoor writer. Matt has been published in several outdoor publications including Bowhunter, Bow and Arrow Hunting, Bowhunt America, Australian and International Trophy Hunter and Eastmans’ Bowhunting Journal.
